Trapped!

The longest day of my life

This was not what I intended to post for Monday morning but since Hurricane Irene knocked out our power starting around 6a.m. on Sunday, I couldn't sit here and type my day away.  The only good thing is now I have something to blog about.  See how God works!  I've been Following Him for years.  Although he must be following my privately because I don't see him listed on the side of the screen.  Oh well, I know he's there.

Three's Company

The best part of that photo is that it wasn't planned.  Did you ever try to get a cat and a dog, with half a brain, to sit on command?  It's impossible.  Nope, they just came over and joined Joshua enjoy the rain.

Unlike the tornado that came through a couple of months ago, Hurricane Irene didn't hurt us too bad.  Yes, we had some big tees go down but not on our street.  Mostly twigs and such.
Still, our power went down early Sunday and it didn't make life any easier.  A few days earlier, Fred had wanted to buy a generator but I thought he was just being himself and wanted to buy a new toy.  By 9a.m. and the kids starting to go crazy in the house, I was apologizing to Fred.  How about that!  That rarely happens.

But after lunch, we headed out to do some more back to school shopping.
Yes, I put six year old boys in carts.  It's the only way to keep them near.

We didn't pick up a ton of stuff this weekend because the kids can wear shorts and things to school while the weather is warm.  And last night, I counted out five outfits each for all four kids.  I hung everything up and in order and they better not touch one hanger this week.  I may no longer have uniforms for them but I do have a System!  I feel so much better now.

After shopping, we stopped over to our cousin Keira's birthday party.
No touch-ups here!  She's a classic beauty.  Happy 7th Keira!

Keira is the daughter of my cousin Amanda.  The party was held at Jen's house.  Amanda's sister.
Amanda and her boyfriend, Mark.  "Amanda, I can say "boyfriend", right"?

I made them pose for me.  See how I use my Family.  They don't care.  Actually, Mark was bugging for a new Facebook profile photo.  And believe me, I'll let you know if he uses it.

Birthday parties for other people's children are easy.  We just show up and hang out.  My kids are old enough that I don't have to watch them every five seconds.  Except kids find us everywhere we go.

The King and I
I made Amanda photograph the two of us.  I believe I need to teach her how to center a subject but she did get us in the photo so it's all good.  We hung out there awhile.  Jen had power and the Internet.  I was only on for 5 minutes but I got my fix.

And that photo above is what we mostly did all of Sunday in Jen's house and at our house.  By 8PM, and in the dark, we went to bed.  The lights came on 1:38a.m.  I've been awake since.

It's 6:57a.m. and I just walked John to the bus stop.  He was wide awake, dressed and ready to go at 6:30a.m.  I think he needed to get out of here.  I'm happy for him.  But for some odd reason, he didn't like me photographing him with his friends.  The nerve!  The rest of the kids leave in an hour.  I'll have photographs on Friday.  I'm always several days behind.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank Jessica of Four plus an Angel for Interviewing me on Friday and introducing me to the world of Twitter.  This was part of what I wanted to write about today but will do so on Wednesday.  "Jessica, I had a great day on Friday.  Thank you very much and it was so nice meeting all of your friends".
