Just a quickie before I lose power
I'm writing this Thursday evening in the middle of a Flood. Seriously, I am! As of yet, we ourselves, are not having any issues. The power is still on and so I can get this post written and scheduled for tomorrow morning. United Water just called to tell us to start boiling water for consumption. Done!
We are two blocks from the Susquehanna River. I took these quick photos two hours ago. The river will be over this road in the next couple of hours. We are hunkered down and intend to ride it out. We have kayaks ya know! But they only fit four. I really hate picking favorites.
We also have plenty of drinking water and Fred just bought a generator and a sub-pump(?). It took him three hours to get back home from 10 miles away. The roads were closing quickly. We are on a slight hill but I can see the street below us filling with water.
Neighborhoods(Shipoke) and other low lying areas have already been evacuated. It is being fore casted as a big flood. I'm really doubting all that but only time will tell. On the bright side, at least I have a topic to blog about for Friday! Dear God, I hope it's not my last one! I was hoping to go out on a high note.
I was also planning to do my August Photo Dump for Friday but life happened. It has a way of sticking it to me sometimes. And so now, I'll probably do a proper flood post on Monday after I get out there and take some real shots. I mean, if anything comes of this at all! You know how the Liberal media likes to build things up.
This is a view looking down our street. As you can see, the moving vans and one horse trailer are here to move things out. I guess all the U-hauls were rented.
Okay, wish us luck. And if you don't hear from me again, remember me fondly. And I expect all of you to blog about how great of a guy I was. Oh hell, you can do it even if I do survive!
