Where were you?

I was at the office

I remember working and my Mom, who was at home with John, called.  She said to turn on the news because a plane had hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center.  No Internet so I turned on the local news channel on the radio.  They confirmed that a plane did indeed hit the tower but since it had just happened, no one  knew any more than that.  As I was listening, they announced that it appeared that a news crew filming the crash and was also in a plane, hit the other tower.  My coworker Linda, was just finishing a meeting and I gave her as much info as I knew.

We found out that our board room was going to put on the news for the employees on a big screen.  So we went over and watched, and learned.  While watching, we heard of a plane hitting the Pentagon and then one going down in Shanksville, PA.  That was too close to home for some folks at the office and they left.  After awhile, we were all given permission to leave.  I went home and spent the day watching the news with my Mom while Johnny was playing around us.

Not one of these places is my home.  But of course, I felt for those involved and their Families.  Until 2001, I had only traveled to NY a few times.  The city overwhelms me and makes me realize that I'm a small town boy.

So on 09/11/01, I went to work as usual without a worry in the world.  By 10a.m.(ish), everything had changed.  I was just happy to be able to come home to my little boy.

So once again, tell me, where were you?

Happy Birthday to my cousin Jen's son, Ryden, born on 09/11/09.

Your Friend, m.
p.s.  Thank you for your concern regarding our latest flood.  We are all fine.  m.
