"You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch"

I make that Santa Suit look good!

It looks as if I'm about to have a yard sale, doesn't it?  But nope, I'm happily and shamefully displaying all of this stuff for you.  I'm happy that I'm getting(got rid of) this stuff but ashamed that it has come to this.  But by showing it all to you, hopefully I'll never hoard these types of things again.

I scheduled off on Monday simply to declutter.  But 3:30a.m came around and Jacob came to our room with a fever.  And I was thinking, "I can't believe that I scheduled one day off from work to clean and organize and now I have to take care of a kid".  Yeah, I know how badly that sounds coming from a parent but just give me this one little break.  However, by 7a.m. when I woke him up, he was all better and has been ever since.  He must have had the 24 minute flu.

By 8a.m.-ish, they were all on their way to school, I opened up the garage door and started hauling things out into the driveway.  Fred was home too and I really owe him a huge thank you for helping me.  I really didn't need his physical help but I needed him not to argue with me as I was getting rid of things.  Everytime I put something in the driveway, I was scared to death that he would run out there and pull it back into the garage.  But no, he even offered up another computer monitor(have plenty), skiis(never used, and a 9ft Christmas Tree(our ceilings are 8.5 feet).

I wanted to say that I have 50 items here but I can't seem to count that many.  And I was going to list every item but that would be boring.  Take my word for it.  I'm claiming 47 things here to add to my decluttering list.  Remember, piles of clothes count as one item.  And for those of you who live near, remember, these things are already gone.  No need to email me.  Ten percent of it hit the landfills(yes I feel guilty) and the bulk of it went to the Salvation Army.  John's clothes went to one of his Friends.  If I knew of any poor people like I see in made for t.v. movies on the Hallmark Channel starring Kenny Rogers and Connie Selleca raising orphans, I would gladly hand these things over to them.  But every "poor" person I know drives a better car than I do and has 4 or 5 flat panel LCD televisions in their homes.

I also was going to sell it on Craigslist but that would take forever to post and my goal was to get rid of these things quickly.  So maybe I could have made $50. off of all this crap.  But believe me, the thought that it's gone makes me happier that $50.00 would have.

So there, 47 more things gone from my life.  I was talking with someone the other day about how our Saturday morning cleanings have gove from about three hours to a little less than two.  No longer are we picking up the same things and putting them into a spot only for them to be on the floor the following week.  The less we have, the less we have to deal with.  It's a wonderful feeling and I suggest you give it a try.

That's it!
47 items gone.
83 more things to go.
I don't know if I'll make it.  We're getting down to slim-pickens around here.
Wish me luck!
Your Friend, m.
